Telegram is preparing to launch a new decentralized network for artificial intelligence called Cocoon, built on the TON blockchain. This announcement was made by Telegram founder Pavel Durov at the Blockchain Life 2025 conference in Dubai.
Private AI on the TON Blockchain
Cocoon is being created as a platform for private and distributed execution of AI queries. All data passing through the network will be encrypted — users and developers will not be able to see the contents of the queries being processed. According to project representatives, Cocoon can be considered “private AI on the TON blockchain.”
Application developers will be able to pay for computational power with Toncoin tokens, while GPU owners will be rewarded with cryptocurrency for providing their resources. To participate, users must specify the type of model architecture being used (e.g., DeepSeek, Qwen), the average query volume, and the token amount.
Telegram as the First Client of the Network
Telegram will become the first user and investor of Cocoon and will also take responsibility for promoting the network globally. The launch of the project is scheduled for November 2025, immediately after the acceptance of applications from potential participants.
From AI Lab to Global Network
Durov first mentioned the new development in October during his visit to Kazakhstan, where he presented the Telegram AI lab. He noted that the company had been working for several months on a technology at the intersection of blockchain and AI that would combine security, transparency, and scalability.
According to Durov, the Cocoon platform will create an environment in which more than a billion Telegram users will be able to use AI functions confidentially and efficiently.
Partnership with Elon Musk’s xAI
Earlier, in May 2025, Telegram announced a partnership with Elon Musk’s xAI startup. As part of this collaboration, the Grok chatbot was integrated into the platform, marking one of the steps toward expanding Telegram’s AI ecosystem.
