Apple has signed an agreement with OpenAI to integrate the company’s technology, founded by Sam Altman, into iPhones. According to sources, the parties are finalizing the terms of the contract for the use of ChatGPT chatbot functions in the upcoming iOS 18 operating system update.
The tool will be integrated with new artificial intelligence features of the device, which Apple will announce in June, according to anonymous insiders. The company has also approached Google and its parent company Alphabet with a proposal to license the Gemini chatbot, with negotiations currently underway.
In April, Bloomberg journalists reported on the resumption of dialogue between the California corporation and OpenAI.
