At the Bitcoin Amsterdam 2024 forum, Bitmain introduced two new devices from the Antminer S21 series for Bitcoin mining. The new models are designed to enhance mining efficiency and performance, making them highly competitive in the market.
The S21+ Hyd model with liquid cooling delivers a hash rate of 319 TH/s with an energy efficiency of 15 J/TH, significantly reducing energy consumption per terahash. This makes it an excellent choice for miners aiming to maximize performance while minimizing energy costs. The air-cooled version, S21+, offers 216 TH/s and consumes 16.5 J/TH, which is also an optimal figure for air-cooled systems.
During the presentation, Bitmain demonstrated charts showing that both devices maintain stable performance even when chip temperatures rise, which is crucial for mining in environments where constant cooling is hard to maintain.
The delivery of the new miners is expected to begin in the first half of 2025, giving large-scale farms ample time to prepare for their adoption.
The Antminer S21 was first introduced in August 2023, offering a hash rate of 270 TH/s with an energy efficiency of 17.5 J/TH. It quickly became a favorite among professional miners. In February 2023, this miner won the “Technological Breakthrough of the Year” award at the Mining Awards 2023, organized by Bitdeer’s Jihan Wu.
Previously, at the World Digital Mining Summit in Las Vegas, Bitmain also unveiled more powerful models, the S21 XP and S21 XP Hyd, which showed even higher results. These devices are targeted at large mining farms, offering even greater performance with reduced energy consumption.
