Thomas Peterffy, founder of Interactive Brokers, recommended on Bloomberg that investors allocate 2-3% of their capital to Bitcoin, but no more than 10%, given the high volatility of the cryptocurrency.
“Anyone who doesn’t have Bitcoin should acquire some, but in reasonable amounts,” Peterffy noted.
The billionaire, whose net worth is estimated at $53 billion (46th on the list of the world’s wealthiest people), admitted that he is wary of cryptocurrencies due to their price fluctuations. In his view, Bitcoin lacks intrinsic value, and its price is driven by trust, much like paper currencies.
Earlier, Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates, described Bitcoin as “digital gold.”
Interactive Brokers launched cryptocurrency trading in September 2021 with the support of Paxos. In August 2022, the company switched to 24/7 operations and added new assets to its listing, including Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash.
