At an event in San Francisco, Worldcoin co-founders Sam Altman and Alex Blania announced major updates to the project, including a rebranding to World Network, or simply — World. The new name reflects the startup’s mission to “accelerate everyone.”

Key updates include:

  • Next-generation Orb powered by NVIDIA Jetson, delivering nearly five times more AI performance than the previous version. The device is easier to assemble (30% fewer parts) and now supports full auditing via a removable memory card.
  • World ID 3.0 — the most advanced identification system for users who haven’t authenticated through the Orb. The app allows storing physical documents and requesting WLD tokens while protecting personal data. The new version enhances privacy protection and includes anti-fraud measures.
  • World App 3.0 — the updated app now supports Mini Apps, offers a World Pay payment feature, and includes enhanced security features.
  • World Chain Mainnet — a blockchain supported by prominent projects like Optimism and Uniswap.

Around 15 million users have either migrated to World Chain or are in the process. The updated branding is already live on the website and social media.

Despite a recent 1.5% drop, WLD token surged by 13% after the announcement and has grown 25% over the past week, outperforming Bitcoin.
