Cardano X-Account Hacked

On December 8, unknown attackers hacked the Cardano Foundation’s X account and published a series of fake messages on behalf of the organization. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson confirmed the breach.

The hackers used the compromised account to promote the ADAsol token, allegedly launched on the Solana blockchain by Cardano developers. As a result, users generated around $500,000 in trading volume before the situation was stopped.

Later, a fake statement about a lawsuit from the SEC appeared on the hacked account, in which the hackers announced the termination of ADA token support to comply with regulatory requirements.

The Cardano Foundation team clarified that only the X account was compromised, and all other systems and communication channels remain secure. An investigation is underway to prevent future breaches.

This incident occurred shortly after a similar attack on December 4, when hackers targeted Solana developers through a compromised JavaScript library.
