The rate above is the market rate of USDT (Tether) in Nigerian naira (NGN). It is updated every 10 minutes from CoinGecko market data. Use the converter for any amount, and the tables to see common amounts such as 10, 100 or 1,000 USDT in naira.

Official rate, parallel rate and P2P: why the numbers differ

In Nigeria you will often see three different “dollar” prices on the same day:

  • the official rate from the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM);
  • the parallel (street) rate, usually a little higher;
  • the P2P price of USDT, set by buyers and sellers on crypto platforms.

USDT tracks the US dollar, so its naira price usually sits close to the parallel rate. The gap changes with demand for dollars, payment-method risk and how easy it is to cash out.

Tip: if a seller offers USDT far below the market rate, assume it is a scam.

Can you still use Binance P2P with naira?

No, not with naira. Binance removed naira from its P2P marketplace on 28 February 2024 and ended all naira services in March 2024. Remaining naira balances were converted to USDT. Binance has since been in legal disputes with Nigerian authorities, including a tax case and an $81.5 billion lawsuit filed in 2025.

That is why searches for “USDT to naira Binance” now usually mean the rate, not a working Binance naira market.

Where Nigerians buy and sell USDT in 2026

  • Local exchanges in the SEC programme. Quidax and Busha received Approval-in-Principle from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under its incubation programme for crypto platforms. Note that, per the SEC, an Approval-in-Principle is not a final licence.
  • P2P on other international exchanges. Some international exchanges still run naira P2P with bank transfer, OPay, PalmPay or Moniepoint. These platforms are not licensed by the SEC, and at least one has faced regulatory action in Nigeria. Weigh the risks before using them.

Safety rules for any P2P trade:

  1. Use a bank or wallet account in your own name.
  2. Confirm the payment in your own banking app, not from a screenshot or SMS.
  3. Don’t release USDT early and don’t move the trade to WhatsApp or Telegram.
  4. Check the network when you send USDT. TRC20 is common; see What Is USDT?.

Crypto rules and tax in Nigeria (2025–2026)

  • Regulator. The Investments and Securities Act 2025 treats digital assets as securities under the SEC. Crypto platforms must be registered with the SEC.
  • Banks. Since the Central Bank of Nigeria’s December 2023 guidelines, banks may open accounts for SEC-licensed crypto providers. They still may not trade or hold crypto themselves.
  • Tax. Under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, in force from 1 January 2026, gains from digital assets are taxable. For individuals, gains are taxed at your personal income-tax rate rather than a flat rate. Some details, such as when a gain is counted, are still being clarified. Check with the Nigeria Revenue Service or a tax adviser.

Frequently asked questions

How much is 1 USDT in naira today?

See the live rate at the top of this page; it updates every 10 minutes. P2P prices can be slightly different.

What is 100 USDT in naira?

Use the converter or the table above. Multiply 100 by the current USDT to NGN rate.

Why is the USDT rate higher than the CBN or official rate?

USDT trades freely, so its naira price follows demand for dollars and is usually closer to the parallel-market rate than to the official NFEM rate.

Does Binance P2P support naira in 2026?

No. Binance stopped naira P2P in February 2024 and all naira services in March 2024.

Is crypto legal in Nigeria?

Yes. Crypto is regulated by the SEC under the Investments and Securities Act 2025, and banks may serve licensed providers. Use SEC-registered or SEC-approved platforms where possible, and remember that crypto gains are taxable from 2026.
